Where is Kissimmee?
Kissimmee is a city in the Osceola County of central Florida, nestled along the northwest shore of Lake Tohopekaliga. The city offers a more natural side to Florida, despite being just minutes from both Orlando International Airport and the state’s world-famous theme parks.
Vacation homes
Crowned the ‘vacation home capital of the world’, it’s no surprise that Kissimmee has become a hotspot for tourists, with luxurious private sanctuaries providing a place of calm in the Florida theme park frenzy. Combining home comforts with resort-like facilities, these aren’t your average villas. You can soak up the Florida sunshine by your private pool, cook up a family feast in the kitchen, soothe your muscles with a relaxing spa treatment or challenge the children to crazy golf – and that’s just the beginning.
Downtown Kissimmee
Downtown is Kissimmee’s beating heart. The vibrant area draws you in with its historical charm, colourful murals and lively streets. Time your visit with the first Friday of the month, and you can watch as the Kissimmee Valley Farmers Market takes over the city. Alternatively, outlet malls and independent boutiques are always on hand. Downtown’s dining options are just as exciting. As the largest independently owned restaurant district in central Florida, you’ll never be far from a family eatery. From American delights to international fare, it’s all available here. Downtown’s historical sites are one for the list too; the Welcome Center and Osceola County Courthouse give a glimpse into times gone by.
St Cloud
Located just 9 miles southeast of Kissimmee, St Cloud entices visitors with its quaint streets and lakeside location. Downtown St Cloud tends to steal the show with its charming red-brick avenues. It’s here you can rummage through locally-owned shops, savour delicious food at one of the many restaurants and browse the displays at the buzzing Monthly Market. St Cloud’s Lakefront Park is also a bucket-lister, giving those fun and sun vibes without the need for a beach resort. There are soft golden sands, a beautiful marina and a fishing pier for those who want to dabble in some freshwater fishing.
Celebration
As you would expect from a neighbourhood founded by The Walt Disney Company, Celebration brings even more magic to Florida. Its looks are enough to lure you in, but its attractions are what will make you stay. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride along the beautiful brick-lined streets, sit back and relax in a lakefront chair overlooking the glistening waters, cycle your way through the picturesque Lakeside Park, admire the Southern-inspired architecture and work your way from one beautiful boutique to the next. And if you need any more magic, Walt Disney World is just minutes away.
Outdoor activities
Holidays in Kissimmee can be as relaxing or adventurous as you like. For the latter, it’s not just about the theme parks that lie a stone’s throw from the city. Basked in natural beauty, Kissimmee’s grassland and waterways make it a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. You can zip line between treetops, horse ride through ranches, kayak in creeks and sail through the headwaters of the Everglades. It you want proof that the fun doesn’t end at the theme park gates, this is it.
