The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa

Industrial and artsy

A former power station transformed into a trendy boutique hotel right on the popular Knysna lagoon.

Created within a former power station The Turbine Boutique Hotel & Spa lies at the heart of Knysna. This quirky boutique hotel oozes contemporary chic while retaining the old power station’s original industrial features. The décor is described as ‘funky industrial chic’ and from the moment you enter the property there is plenty of evidence of its former use with steel pillars and colourful pipework throughout. Some of the hotel’s spaces have been turned into informal art galleries to showcase the work of local artists.

The hotel has its own jetty so cruises on Knysna’s lagoon can easily be arranged. The Turbine Hotel is a memorable addition to an adventure along the Garden Route, South Africa’s famous route for sweeping coastal roads, tranquil national parks, sandy beaches and world-class golf courses.

Why we love The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa

  • From Thesen Island, it's just a 10-minute stroll over a bridge to Knysna's main waterfront

  • Make sure you see some of the artwork from local artists in the hotel's informal gallery spaces

  • Try the Knysna Journey - a 90-minute signature treatment at the Turbine's spa

  • Step straight from the hotel and onto a boat for a sunset sail or a cruise to Knsyna Heads
