Set on one of Viareggio’s most attractive stretches of coastline, this historic hotel provides a taste of classic beachside living.
With its distinctive misty-blue-and-white facade, the Palace Hotel is the epitome of old-school Italian seaside charm. Inside, behind the Liberty-style frontage, it’s just as appealing, particularly the ground-floor suite of parquet-floored lounges decorated with antique furniture, Old Masters, and Murano glass chandeliers.
Why we love Palace Hotel, Viareggio
-
In the evening, the bar becomes the place to gather for a drink and views of the sun setting into the sea
-
The rooftop terrace overlooks rows of pink and green parasols on the wide strip of sand
-
It’s right on the beachfront in the heart of this lively seaside resort
-
Bikes are available if you fancy cycling along the seashore
Rooms
The 73 rooms are in keeping with the style of the building, with high ceilings, period details and a colour scheme of soft blues, greys and golds. Classic Rooms look out to the back of the hotel, with views of the town and the hills behind. There’s also the opportunity to upgrade to a room with a limited sea view or one with a small balcony and side sea views.

At the end of the day, the stylish Decò restaurant serves up light and summery Italian dishes with an emphasis on seafood, Tuscan and Versilian dishes.

Particularly popular in the evening for cocktails, a cold beer or a glass of wine, and perhaps a little dish of something to share, while admiring the sunset.
