Sri Lanka Family Suggested Itinerary
You’ll get a real feel for this blissful island on a four-stop, two-week tour of Sri Lanka. We’ve recommended some resorts that tick all the boxes for being family-friendly and suggested activities that everyone will love.
Tailored to you and your family
Balance downtime on honey-coloured beaches and splash time in swimming pools with exploring Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and natural bounty. A two-week trip gives you enough time to scour a couple of the best national parks for the nation’s wildlife, including leopards and elephants, and get young imaginations fired up on a visit to an intriguing cave complex. The friendly locals make families feel exceedingly welcome and comfortable while travelling, plus a car and driver for the second part of your holiday effortlessly takes you and the gang from place to place on this multi-stop adventure.

Days 1-4
Bentota
Ease into your holiday with four nights on the beach on Sri Lanka’s sun-soaked southwest coast. After active beach days getting into the swing of your holiday, gather everyone together for a front-row seat for the region’s blazing sunsets.
Days 5-7
Weerawila (for Yala National Park)
A private transfer takes you all to the south coast, and on arrival at the DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort, you’re welcomed with a warm cookie. Things only get better from there — this peaceful resort is in a prime position for exploring Yala, Sri Lanka’s famous national park. We recommend spotting the sanctuary’s wildlife from the comfort of a private jeep, searching for elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes, monkeys, and leopards. On your last day in Weerawila, you’ll meet your driver, who will take you to Ella and be at your disposal until the end of your trip.
Days 8-9
Ella
A car takes you inland to Hill Country on the two-hour journey to Ella, where you’ll stay in an architecturally impressive retreat, Hide Ella Hotel & Resort, built on a steep hillside in the Ella Gap. Use your time here to take leisurely walks through tea plantations and head to some of the area’s best viewpoints to enjoy the sweeping views of misty forests and take some family photos.
Day 10-13
Sigiriya
Leaving Ella behind, your driver will take you north to Sigiriya. To break up your journey, a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple is highly recommended. It’s an ancient complex of caves adorned with statues and paintings depicting the island’s stories. You’ll check into Aliya Resort & Spa, a peaceful oasis amid Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, where you can see the dramatic Sigiriya Rock from the resort’s infinity pool. Time here can be spent relaxing, but don’t miss a chance to climb the famous rock fortress or to join a jeep safari to see elephants in their natural habitat in Minneriya National Park. It’s sure to be a fitting end to a memorable trip to Sri Lanka.
