An all-villa retreat covering 40 acres in an unrivalled setting on the Seychelles island of Praslin.
Raffles is a name that’s synonymous with class, style and sophistication. And Raffles Seychelles is no exception. This retreat, which is scattered over 40 acres of hillside on Praslin’s north-east coast, feels miles away from anywhere but has everything you could possibly need. The spa is the stand-out spot; alongside the 12 treatment rooms where signature Raffles massages and treatments are carried out, there’s an outdoor pool, open-air yoga pavilion and sauna, Jacuzzi and experience shower (think lights, sounds, aromas and changing temperatures). We love each of the resort’s restaurants, partly due to the exceptional worldwide cuisine they offer and partly because of their unbeatable settings: indoor-outdoor Losean is just steps from the sea, Curieuse is surrounded by the verdant gardens and there are no prizes for guessing where the casual Pool Restaurant is.
Why we love Raffles Seychelles
-
The spacious villas all have a private pool and a real sense of seclusion, just the thing for a honeymoon
-
Praslin’s powder-soft beaches are superb, and Raffles Seychelles has two of them: Anse Takamaka and Anse Boudin
-
Every meal is a feast, whether you’re enjoying Thai curry in the garden or a crab wrap by the pool
-
The private experiences are truly special: think sunset Champagne and canapes at the beach served by your personal butler
Rooms
Even with all this earthly eye candy around, it could be a challenge to drag yourself away from your pool villa, of which there are 87. You won’t be wanting for space whichever option you choose, the main question that needs to be answered is what view do I want? There are the Hillside Pool Villas which are hidden away among the verdant foliage and perfect for complete privacy. For a more far-reaching view, go for an Ocean View Pool Villa or a high-up Panoramic Pool Villa. If you don’t fancy lifting a finger, the One- and Two-Bedroom Villas come with 24-hour butler service.
Facilities
There are three excellent restaurants, one of which is also a bar, and a relaxed lounge bar as well.
Losean
The culinary day begins with the soundtrack of the ocean at Losean, a venue that has both indoor and outdoor seating and is open for breakfast and Indian Ocean-inspired dinners by candlelight.
Curieuse
The more formal restaurant serves up cuisine from India, China and South East Asia at dinner. It is also home to The Sushi Room, where the islands’ famed seafood is celebrated.
Pool Restaurant & Bar
Lunch is more informal and served overlooking the pool. The menu here is packed with light dishes such as salads and sandwiches as well as kebabs, curries and sushi. At the bar, you can enjoy a cocktail or join a fun mixology class.
The Danzil Lounge
This is a favourite evening spot to nurse a few cocktails (any of the rum-based beverages slip down particularly well) and drink in the ocean views.
For special evenings, private dining can be arranged, and you can eat when and where you want.

As well as the list of relaxing and reviving signature treatments, there’s also an outdoor pool and separate sauna-Jacuzzi-experience shower suites for men and women. Yoga classes are held in an open-air yoga pavilion. The fitness centre, with its state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, is open around the clock. More scenic alternatives include jogging on the beach or nature hikes in the surrounding area.
PADI dive courses, excursions and snorkelling trips, run by local operators Octopus Diver and White Tip Diver, can be arranged.
The resort has an on-site bottling plant that uses locally sourced water and refillable glass bottles. Staff have helped in the clean-up of the Aldabra atoll, a World Heritage Site that is home to endangered giant tortoises. The resort has replanted the grounds with indigenous species that are favoured food sources for the local blue parrot. As much fresh produce as possible is sourced from Praslin’s farmers and fishermen.
