Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas

Luxury in harmony with nature

Set back from an unspoilt beach, this appealing Anantara resort has a remote feel and an enviable setting next to the Blue Bay Marine Park.

This Anantara resort, located in the south-east corner of the island, is a relatively new addition to Mauritius’s breathtaking coast. We love that the hotel is set back from a wonderfully wild and untouched beach at the western end of the Blue Bay Marine Park; it has that longed-for remote feeling that makes it hard to believe that you’re 10 minutes away from the airport. The resort is modern in style but with a nod to the style of the island with exposed dark brick walls that are complemented with light and natural tones and fresh white furnishings.

Why we love Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas

  • The resort’s setting, next to an untamed sweep of sand backed by casuarinas trees and beach naupakas, feels wonderfully secluded

  • There’s an all-inclusive option which is perfect for those who are looking to just stay put and enjoy the feeling of peace

  • All the rooms are generous, but the villas with private pools are another stage up in terms of spaciousness

  • Clever design touches such as driftwood chandeliers and hessian-covered chairs echo the local landscape and its history

With three restaurants and a bar with an all-day food menu, plus a couple of private dining options, the culinary offerings at Anantara Iko Mauritius offer plenty of variety.

Horizon
The resort’s main restaurant is open for buffet breakfast and a wide choice of international dishes at lunch and dinner. Eat al fresco for views of the garden and the ocean beyond.

Sea. Fire. Salt.
Watch your seafood being grilled to perfection in the open kitchen of this chic modern eatery, and enjoy it to the accompaniment of the sea-scented evening breeze.

Bon Manzer
A colourful venue for lunch, Bon Manzer has a menu crammed with delicious healthy options, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.

Karokan
The poolside bar is open from 8.30am to 11.30pm for coffee, cold drinks and light bites. Later in the day, it’s a great spot for a rum cocktail and music to chill to.

Zafran
Take a culinary journey through India with authentic recipes created in the clay oven.

What could be more romantic than a private dinner for two in your choice of venue – under a candlelit gauze-draped gazebo on the beach, perhaps – with your own personal chef, butler and sommelier to look after you?

The Anantara Spa is a serene tropical retreat where you can indulge in treatments* using natural products in one of the outdoor pavilions or take time to enjoy a signature hammam ritual*. You can also arrange a 3-day or 5-day Wellness Package* that combines spa treatments, classes and healthy cuisine.

Master practioners* are available for yoga, meditation, qi gong and tai chi in suitably tranquil settings such as the herb garden, beach or filao forest.

The fitness centre is fully equipped with Technogym machines to help you stay in shape on holiday.

There is a range of indoor and outdoor group classes including Pilates, CrossFit, Body Pump and forest trail speed walks and sea walking. There is also a tennis court.

Water lovers can explore the marine park in several (non-motorised) ways, from stand-up paddleboarding and snorkelling to kayaking and kitesurfing.

Everything bought for the resort is chosen to be as hard-wearing as possible, repairable and recyclable. Any food waste that can be composted is turned into fertiliser to be used in the garden. The work of the island’s artisans features strongly in the interior design, while local musicians and dancers perform here regularly. As many native materials as possible were used in the design, from sorn timber and reclaimed basalt to driftwood and thatch.
