Kolbe Hotel Rome

Wrap yourself in history

A 17th-century former Franciscan convent, this hotel is surrounded by relics of ancient Rome.

Away from Rome’s grand Baroque centre sits this charming hotel with its pretty orange and lemon grove gardens, which are a real rarity in the Italian capital. The hotel is surrounded by the remains of imperial Rome, and you couldn’t be better placed if you want to immerse yourself in the ancient history of the city. The hotel overlooks the ruins of the Palatine Hill, while the Colosseum, the chariot racing stadium Circus Maximus and Piazza Venezia are located just a short walk away. The more ‘modern’ sights can be reached by a short taxi ride or metro journey. The style of the hotel itself has a more 21st-century feel to it with exposed brick walls, glass doors and contemporary furnishings.

Why we love Kolbe Hotel Rome

  • If you’re in the Italian capital to explore its Roman past, you couldn’t be better placed as it’s right next to the Forum

  • When you’re sitting in the sun-kissed garden surrounded by citrus and olive trees, it’s hard to believe you’re in a busy city

  • The cool modern interior design – think clean lines and sleek designer furniture – fits perfectly with the historic architecture

  • With a cosy vaulted room for winter and the shaded garden in summer, the well-regarded restaurant has year-round appeal

The first meal of the day is served in the light-filled breakfast room or out on the patio; the dishes are largely continental with eggs and bacon also available. The Unique Al Palatino Garden Restaurant has both indoor and outdoor spaces, the latter of which has the real top tables. The quality of the cuisine certainly matches the beautiful setting with delicious Italian dishes on the menu served at dinner.

Unique Al Palatino Garden Restaurant
Each morning breakfast is served in the relaxing indoor space, or on the terrace if the weather is warm and dry. At dinner the restaurant opens its doors again for a rich offering of Italian dishes.

Lounge Bar
Sharing the historic vaults of the building with the restaurant, this the place for pre and post-dinner drinks.

There are very few, if any, hotels in the Italian capital that can boast their own garden, let alone a restaurant that makes the best use of such a beautiful outdoor space which is what makes Unique Al Palatino Garden Restaurant rather special.
