In one of the best sunset-viewing settings in Santorini, this relaxed, stylish and grown-up retreat has an authentic sense of place
Settle back on your poolside lounger, home-sourced-herb-infused cocktail in hand, to witness one of the greatest natural shows on Earth. At Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas, there’s no need to fight for the perfect spot from which to witness Santorini’s dramatic sunsets – you get a ringside seat from the bar or from your private infinity pool and/or Jacuzzi if you opt for one of the sunset suites. So much for the location, but the rest is just as seductive. There’s a deliciously authentic Greek flavour to the food and drinks, where local and seasonal are more than buzzwords. The treatments at the much-garlanded spa harness the power of natural ingredients to impressive effect (the Summer Meadows massage is particularly fragrant). As for the rooms, grouped in village-like clusters around the Mediterranean garden, their cool, rustic-chic interiors are instantly calming, as well as sublimely camera-friendly.
Why we love Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas
-
It’s on the edge of the picturesque village of Oia, so you can enjoy the gentle bustle by day, but escape the crowds as sunset approaches.
-
The award-winning spa is every inch the healing sanctuary it aims to be, whether you’re floating in the pool or trying a Cretan massage
-
From breakfast to dinner, the food is superb, with super-fresh local ingredients used to create delicious updates on classic Greek recipes
-
With its typical-with-a-modern-twist Cycladic architecture and indigenous planting in the gardens, It has a timeless atmosphere
This resort has earned internationally recognised certification that conform to standards set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
Rooms
The 83 suites take their design influences from Cycladic village architecture, with rustic whitewashed walls, local craft pieces and soft-coloured textiles. All have an outdoor Jacuzzi and/or private pool, but come with different outlooks, from sunset-facing ocean panoramas to views of one of the main pools. What the Suite Pool Front with Jacuzzi lacks in sea views, it makes up for in space, and the terrace has a heated Jacuzzi. For cobalt-tinged vistas, you could opt for an open-plan Junior Suite Sea View with Jacuzzi, a one-bedroom Suite Sea View with Jacuzzi, a Junior Suite Sunset & Sea View with Jacuzzi or a Suite Sunset & Sea View with Jacuzzi.
Facilities
Sustainability and authenticity are the watchwords of the resort’s culinary scene, from the breakfast buffet to the poolside bar and fine-dining restaurant. Seasonal local ingredients are used to create dishes brimming with irresistible Greek flavours.
Breakfast Room
Start the day with a Greek-flavoured al fresco breakfast served buffet-style with a short selection of made-to-order options.
Alios Ilios
The food is as memorable as the views at Santo Pure’s award-winning fine-dining hotspot. Savour exquisite Mediterranean dishes à la carte or with one of the fabulous tasting menus.
Akratos Poolside Bar
Signature cocktails made with homegrown ingredients, Greek-style hotdogs and delectable snacks: the all-day bar will tempt you to linger.
For a special meal, there’s something very romantic about a candlelit dinner under the stars on your private verandah.
Whats Included
Breakfast in the Breakfast Room
At the award-winning Anasa Spa, the beyond-appealing therapies are designed to promote health and wellbeing. Natural ingredients are to the fore, whether you opt for a Cretan herb-scented massage or a saffron-infused facial. It’s not all about the treatment list, though. There’s also a heated indoor pool, steam bath and sauna.
The spacious fitness room offers up-to-date cardio and strength training equipment. Group classes include functional fitness, yoga, pilates and mindfulness; private yoga or pilates sessions on your terrace can be arranged. There are also guided hikes if you’d like to get out and about into Santorini’s extraordinary landscapes.
There are six freshwater swimming pools, including three infinity pools positioned to capture the most stunning views of the Aegean.
The kitchen’s focus on local, seasonal produce, much of it grown organically on site, is only one part of a multi-pronged approach to sustainability. For example, the grounds are watered at night to reduce evaporation, plastic bottles have been replaced with glass, and there’s a reverse osmosis and filtration unit to clean wastewater.
Guests over 12 years are welcome at this resort.
