Rhodes is the picture-perfect island for a Hellenistic historical fix of ruins and a blissful spot for those warm waters of the Aegean Sea, intact traditional villages and luxury hotels carved into cliffs. For families, a trip to Rhodes can become a whimsical adventure of aqua parks and waterslides. But it can equally be a relaxing, sophisticated holiday.
Butterflies and Winetasting
Spend a morning visiting the butterflies of Rhodes, then settle down for lunch at the marvellous Triantafillou Estate winery. The day begins at the Valley of the Butterflies, where millions of butterflies gather in the cool shade of Rhodes’ maple trees. You’ll walk to the springs that feed the pool at the entrance to the valley, where butterflies virtually cover every centimetre of the trees. A hushed quiet is essential so as not to disturb these delicate creatures. Next, you’ll visit the Triantafillou Estate winery, considered the best on the island. You’ll have the chance to taste the different types of wine produced and enjoy a light lunch before returning to your hotel.
