Calabash Grenada

Soft sands, summer smiles and marvellous food

The white sand beach, ice-blue pool, flawless service and stop-and-stare suites make Calabash Grenada a breathe out and slow down luxe escape.

Owned and run by the Garbutt family, Calabash Grenada has been serving up subtle elegance since 1987 and is as delightful as a fondant fancy. Hammocks hover over white sands, yachts rock to the rhythm of the waters and days are spent dozing on sun loungers submerged in the infinity pool or borrowing snorkelling gear and paddle boards. As a Relais & Chateaux hotel, food is a highlight, from fine dining at Rhodes to lip-smackingly good sake and tempura at Izakaya. And all the suites are utterly gorgeous. Nab one with a private pool and you’ll feel like the cat who got the cream.

Breakfast
The à la carte breakfast always gets lots of praise, with the choice to take it overlooking the sea or have it served on your terrace or balcony. On the menu are Caribbean classics such as saltfish souse and Creole eggs alongside sun-ripened fruits, homemade yogurts, avocado toast and buttermilk souffle pancakes.

Rhodes Restaurant
Heralded as one of the best restaurants in Grenada, Rhodes is fine dining in a vine-covered venue. You’ll find fresh catch of the day and slow-cooked meats on the menu as well as handmade pastas, dreamy desserts and ice-cream cocktails. Once helmed by the late Gary Rhodes, you’re now in the fabulous hands of an incredible head chef who serves seasonal local produce with contemporary flair.

The Beach Club
Open daily for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner twice a week for special themed nights, The Beach Club comes with yacht-dotted sea views and a menu of light bites and large plates using the best ingredients from the island.

Nori
Nori rolls out fresh Peruvian and Japanese flavours in a casual but swish setting by the pool. Sharing plates include smoked tuna, locally-grown crispy tempura and tropical desserts.

Grill & Caribbean Night
Follow the sweet sound of steel pan music down to The Beach Club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for Grill & Caribbean Night. A laid-back, sandy-toed evening by the sea.

Afternoon Tea & Evening Canapes
You’ll never get hungry throughout the day. Complimentray tiny sandwiches and delicate desserts are served over tea in the lounge and at 6 pm in your suite, you’ll find a selection of chef’s signature bites in the shape of tempting canapés.

Many of the fruits, vegetables and spices on the menus come from the hotel’s north coast organic-certified farm, and local suppliers and fishermen are chosen for their low-impact production methods. Kitchen scraps are composted, rainwater is harvested, seaweed is cleared from the beach and turned into fertiliser and single-use plastic has been eliminated wherever possible.
