Turtle Beach Resort by Elegant Hotels

An award-winning, beachfront all-inclusive on Barbados’ south coast

Flanked by powder-white sand and sparkling cerulean sea, this family-friendly resort boasts excellent facilities and a wide range of activities.

You can be as active or relaxed as you like at this welcoming resort, with watersports, tennis, cooking lessons and yoga sessions among the activities on offer. Sink your toes into talcum-powder sands and go boogie boarding in the crystal-clear waters. Little ones can enjoy games, arts and crafts and films on the beach at the Flying Fish Kids’ Club, while you relax by the freeform pools and unwind in the Jacuzzi. The Aqua School offers free surfing and paddleboarding lessons, and you'll find beach and pool ambassadors on hand to keep you topped up throughout the day with cold towels, fresh fruit and chilled drinks.

Why we love Turtle Beach Resort by Elegant Hotels

  • The resort is ideal for families as well as couples, with an excellent kids’ club and plenty of activities – including free surf lessons at the aqua school.

  • There’s a great choice of food, from refined Italian to laid-back Caribbean. Under the Taste of Elegance Dine Around Programme, guests can also dine at selected sister properties for no extra cost.

  • It’s a stone’s throw from the famous Oistin's Fish Market, known for its weekly Friday Fish Fry, and capital Bridgetown is close by too. There’s also an 18-hole championship course just around the corner.

Head to three restaurants offering buffet and à la carte menus, and enjoy refreshing smoothies and pastries at the Half Moon Coffee Bar & Deli. Under the resort’s dine-around programme, you can also eat at selected sister properties for no extra cost – from themed dining at Crystal Cove to Asian Fusion at Waves Hotel & Spa. Please note that currently the dine around options are limited whilst renovations are taking place.

Chelonia
The resort’s main restaurant, Chelonia serves international dishes in an elegant, open-air setting with regular themed dinners and evening entertainment ranging from live music to limbo dancing. Breakfast is an international buffet, and it’s a lovely lunch spot too.

Sand Trap
Tuck into authentic Caribbean food with the ocean for a backdrop at this postcard-pretty waterfront spot.

Asiago's
Head here if you’re in the mood for Italian in a refined atmosphere, with hearty pizzas and pasta dishes served in elegant surroundings (diners must be over 12).

Half Moon Coffee Bar & Deli
Enjoy iced coffees, smoothies, pastries and local snacks at the resort’s café and deli.

Freeze Ice Cream Parlour
Cool off with a sundae, cone or milkshake at this classic ice cream parlour.

We love Sand Trap for its Caribbean-meets-Mediterranean menu and a serene waterfront setting; try coconut-crusted mahi-mahi with a side of sea view.

Whats Included

All Inclusive • All meals • Selected drinks (excluding Champagne and fine wines) • Exchange dining at sister resorts, Crystal Cove by Elegant Hotels and Waves Hotel & Spa by Elegant Hotels (reservation required; themed buffet dining at a supplement) • Beach Ambassadors Service (including ice cream and fresh fruit) • Fitness centre, tennis and aerobics • Supervised kids’ club (3-12 years) • Wi-Fi

Please note that currently the dine around options are limited whilst renovations are taking place.

There’s a 24-hour fitness centre and two floodlit tennis courts, and those wanting to get serious can take tennis lessons with a pro. The resort also offers twice-weekly yoga sessions as well as spinning classes and other fitness workshops.

From island tours to pastry workshops, Calypso dance lessons to beach cricket and tennis, you won’t get bored here – and there’s a championship 18-hole golf course round the corner too. The hotel also runs a free neighbourhood walking tour around St Lawrence Gap, which is a few steps away.

Learn to surf and paddleboard for free at the Aqua School, or grab a snorkel and head out to spot sea turtles and colourful fish just off the shore. Kayaking, hobie cat sailing and boogie boarding are all available too (non-motorised watersports are complimentary).

There’s so much here for younger children, from the hotel’s free kids’ club – Flying Fish – which is for ages 3-12 years, to the Aqua School’s new surfing lessons*, which are for children aged 5 and up. There are children’s menus at all the restaurants, but if your children are a little older, treat them to a grown-up Italian meal at Asiagos. Diners here must be over 12 and things are a little more refined.

The Ocean View Junior Suites sleep two adults plus two children on a pull-out sofa bed. They have a private terrace where you can sit out at night while the little ones sleep, and they can be booked as interconnecting rooms if you need more space. The One-Bedroom Suite is another good option for larger families or older children – the adult sleeping area is in a separate room, so you get more in the way of privacy.

The Flying Fish Kids' Club is open daily from 9am-9pm and offers fun activities and games for children aged 3-12. Children's meals can be requested. Infants under 3 years are invited to attend the kids' club but must be accompanied by a parent or hotel babysitter (at local charge).

An abundance of educational and cultural activities, games and entertainment include:

•   Local dialect lessons
•   Bajan cooking and art classes
•   Calypso dancing
•   Traditional road tennis
•   Steel pan lessons
•   Limbo
•   Beach cricket
•   Table tennis
•   Themed parties
•   Karaoke
•   Film nights including popcorn
•   Foosball
•   Nintendo Wii
•   Television and DVD player

There is an 18-hole golf course just a few minutes from the resort. This 72-par course also has a driving range.

Minimum stay: 7 nights 22 Dec 2019-02 Jan 2020 and 21 Dec 2020-02 Jan 2021.

Children aged 12 and over are welcome at Asiago’s Restaurant which has an evening dress code.

There is a room levy payable locally on departure.
