Sugar Bay Barbados

A laid-back all-inclusive within touching distance of the south coast’s best attractions

Set on a sugary white beach, this all-inclusive resort is great for families as well as couples, with plenty to explore on the doorstep.

This resort is tucked away in tropical gardens edging a protected lagoon and soft white sands; the beach is home to nesting leatherback turtles, and the tranquil bay’s calm waters are a great alternative to the crashing surf of other south-coast resorts. The elegant interiors are cool and airy with boho-chic furniture and a blend of contemporary and traditional touches – from sparkling chandeliers and lush plants to bright prints and a wall of colourful chattel house shutters. Lounge by the cosy pool, sip cocktails at the swim-up bar or enjoy a siesta in one of the hammocks strewn between palms at this laid-back, relaxing hideaway

Why we love Sugar Bay Barbados

  • The resort is ideally located on Barbados’ lively south coast, with the attractions of St Lawrence Gap, Oistins and Bridgetown all close by.

  • It’s set on a pristine, soft-white-sand beach and flanks a protected lagoon, with excellent snorkelling, diving and other watersports in the area.

  • There are four restaurants, offering a wide selection of dining options, including two specialty venues.

  • There’s a great kids’ club as well as a creche and teens’ lounge, making it an excellent choice for families as well as couples.

From Caribbean favourites to international themed buffets, the dining scene here is diverse, and two speciality restaurants add extra allure (guests can dine for free at the specialty venues once every three days, or up to twice in a week). Evenings are happily laid-back and low-key, with regular live music and film nights on the beach, and the swim-up pool bar offers rum punches and mojitos from the novelty of the water.

Reef Restaurant
Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, the refreshed Reef restaurant has a relaxing beachside setting with Caribbean and international cuisine alongside regular themed buffets.

Colin's Beach Bar & Grill
A quirky and colourful bar designed in the style of a traditional rum shop, Colin’s serves lunch, snacks and drinks with an emphasis on local specialities.

Sizzle Steakhouse
Serving fine cuts of beef fused with local flavours and indulgent sides, this specialty steakhouse is one of our standouts.

UMI
Enjoy Asian-fusion cuisine at this stylish and contemporary specialty restaurant overlooking the beach and swim-up bar.

The Lazy Mongoose Pub
Sip local and internationally brewed beers, spirits and wines at this cosy and quaint English-style pub, located in the Sugar Bay Chattel Plaza.

Driftwood Cafe
This all-day café serves specialty coffees, teas and sweet treats from a delightful open deck overlooking the sea.

Blush Café
With a flower swing and colourful photo booth, the chic interiors of Blush Café have made this an Instagrammable favourite. It's a great spot for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon snacks.

From fresh handmade sushi to deliciously rich beef teriyaki, Asian-fusion spot UMI has to be our top pick, and the ambiance is lovely too, with views over the beach or pool.
