Melbourne

Arrive in the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne for a three night stay on the banks of the Yarra River. This evening, as an introduction to the tour, you’ll enjoy a welcome drink with your fellow travellers and Tour Director. Dinner tonight is at the riverside restaurant, The General Assembly. Stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel Melbourne.

Day 2

Melbourne

This morning, take a guided walking tour of the city, which includes Melbourne’s eclectic laneways and arcades. The afternoon is at leisure – perhaps join an optional tour to Phillip Island to see the charming Penguin Parade (local charge). Stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel Melbourne.

Day 3

Melbourne

On your final day in Melbourne there’s a full day at leisure to explore the city and the local region as you choose – you might consider heading out along the Great Ocean Road (local charge). Stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel Melbourne.

Day 4

Uluru

Transfer to Melbourne airport early this morning for your flight to Uluru. Travel through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges, stopping to view the majestic flat-topped Atila (Mount Conner) before arriving at your resort. Catch the last rays of the day over the rock monolith with your group and guide. Stay at Voyages Desert Gardens Hotel.

Day 5

Uluru

Rise early this morning to view Uluru at sunrise, watching as the rock changes in colour as the sun comes up. As part of this MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience you'll hear tales of the Anangu, the caretakers of this exceptional and sacred landscape as you explore the base of the rock. A further MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience follows as you learn more about Western Dessert art from an Anangu artist. Later, see the rock domes of Kata Tjuta. Stay at Voyages Desert Gardens Hotel.

Day 6

Cairns

If you opt for today's optional experience another early morning awaits. For a local charge you can experience the kaleidoscopic Field of Light installation by the artist Bruce Munro which is made up of approximately 50,000 lights. Later, fly to the city of Cairns in the state of Queensland. Stay at Hilton Hotel Cairns.

Day 7

Cairns

Today is at leisure. You might choose to relax by the lagoon, explore independently or perhaps join one of the area’s most popular excursions. These include a visit to the ancient Daintree Rainforest, a train ride to the village of Kuranda and a crocodile cruise, or even a hot air balloon ride over the Atherton Tablelands. Dinner will be served at Salt House, a popular Cairns seafood restaurant with some of the freshest dishes possible. Stay at Hilton Hotel Cairns.

Day 8

Great Barrier Reef from Cairns

Cruise by high-speed catamaran to the remarkable Great Barrier Reef to view its wonderful corals and marine life from a semi-submersible vehicle or an underwater observatory. There’ll also be time for scuba diving (local charge), snorkelling and swimming. Even if you’re not a confident swimmer, a pontoon provides a great base from which you can make short trips. Enjoy a buffet lunch before returning to Cairns. Stay at Hilton Hotel Cairns.

Day 9

Sydney

Fly to Australia's largest city, Sydney and spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace. InterContinental Hotel Sydney.

Day 10

Sydney

Begin the day with a guided tour of one of Sydney's icons: the Opera House. Then head out on to the water for a harbour cruise to see the city from the best angle. Later, head out to sun-kissed Bondi for an afternoon of beach bliss. InterContinental Hotel Sydney.

Days 11 to 12

Sydney

You have two whole days to do with what you please. You can carry on your city exploration or head out to the jaw-dropping Blue Mountains, wine tasting in the Hunter Valley or take on the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb (all with a local charge).
