Taj Nadesar Palace

A touch of royal splendour

Part of the prestigious Taj Group, this boutique historic hideaway nestles amid verdant gardens and orchards.

The Taj Nadesar Palace is a boutique hotel set in a former royal palace. Built between 1782 and 1790, the property was named after the goddess Nadesari and was originally home to an East India Company commissioner before coming into the hands of the Maharaja of Kashi in 1889. It’s been owned by the royal family ever since and is now managed by Taj Hotels. Set in 30 acres of peaceful grounds, guests enjoy spending time by the pool, in the spa or playing on the mini golf course. For an insight into the history of the property, take a royal carriage ride through the grounds.

Why we love Taj Nadesar Palace

  • Varanasi’s most exquisite hotel has hosted an array of rich and famous guests, from royalty to celebrities

  • The palace was renovated using authentic floor plans and paintings, so you’ll still find Victorian furniture, grand arches and marble throughout

  • No two rooms are alike in layout or décor and they have been named after previous guests such as the Queen Elizabeth Suite

  • This oasis setting is just a few kilometres away from Varanasi’s key landmarks and the shopping district
